Comparison of laser and power bleaching techniques in tooth color change

2017

BACKGROUND Laser-assisted bleaching uses laser beam to accelerate release of free radicals within the bleaching gel to decrease time of whitening procedure. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of power bleaching using Opalescence Xtra Boost® and laser bleaching technique using LaserSmile gel and diode laser as an activator in their tooth whitening capacity. MATERIAL AND METHODS Student t test showed that the laser bleaching group significantly outperformed the power bleaching group in changing ∆E (p=0.977). RESULTS Similarly, while comparing the groups in changing ∆L, the laser bleaching group indicated significantly superior results (p=0.953). Statistical data from student t …

First mass measurement at JYFLTRAP

2004

The first mass measurements at JYFLTRAP facility are reviewed. Those are also first ever direct mass measurements of the heaviest Zr-isotopes. Results are compared to atomic mass evaluation data and the recent calculations. The first TOF-resonances from high-precision trap and an implication to high-precision mass measurements are discussed.

Recruitments in Finnish universities: practicing strategic or pathetic HRM?

2016

Recruitment is a core instrument in the academic labour market. This article takes the perspective of the organisation − here, the university − on recruitment. Universities’ personnel policies and practises are shifting from legally oriented personnel administration to more strategic human resource management (HRM). In Nordic countries, this shift is partly driven by the changing status of higher education institutions from state-governed bureaus to more autonomous institutions. This article provides insight into this transition, using Finland as a case example of higher education systems that have undergone drastic reform, moving from a civil servant model to autonomous personnel policy. A Systematic Review of Cost-effectiveness Evidence of Endoscopic Saphenous Vein Harvesting: Is it Efficient?

2011

Objective: Greater saphenous vein harvest for coronary and lower extremity bypass requires the longest incision of any surgical procedure. Endoscopic vein harvest allows better results in some clinical variables compared to open harvesting techniques. The objec- tive of this study is to present the results of a systematic review of the scientific evidence about the efficiency of endoscopic saphenous vein harvest. Methods: We performed a systematic review in the bibliographical databases Pubmed, National Health Service Economic Evaluation Database, and NHS Health Technology Assess- ment Database. The search strategy was "endoscopic AND harvesting", in the period January 1970eDecember 2009. R…
